Every year, California Professional Firefighters takes a moment to celebrate the heroic images that honor firefighters, their work in the community and their work on the front lines.

The CPF Photo Contest gives firefighters, fire photographers and others an opportunity to showcase the best of our profession and their own skill at capturing the essence of firefighting.

Cash Prize for each winning entry -- $1,000. This year, we're giving you three chances to win $1,000 by sharing your unique view of the fire service.

Firefighters on the Front Lines

Images showing members going the extra mile, serving their community helping others and working together in the firehouse.

Please send your entries in one of two ways:

You will be asked to input photographer information when you upload the images. 


You may also send us original photos, flash drives or CDs by mail to: California Professional Firefighters, 1780 Creekside Oaks, Sacramento, CA 95833. Please include name, email address, contact phone number local union or other affiliation. Please also include information about where the image was taken and what is captured.



1. Contest is open to all active/retired members of California Professional Firefighters (CPF), California Fire Photographers Association (CFPA), professional photographer associations and all "fire enthusiasts" based in California.

2. Entries will be judged on originality, technical quality, adherence to category and artistic merit.

3. Submissions must be either high-resolution digital images (Formats: .jpg, .png or .tiff), or as a photographic print. Photocopies or laser-printed images are not eligible.

4. All digital photos must be high-resolution (at least 300 dpi). 

5. Aside from basic exposure adjustments, photos may not be altered or enhanced.

6. Each entry submitted must include: Full name, email, daytime phone number, flocal union or other affiliation, and, if possible, description of the location and info about the image.

7. Prints, flash drives and/or CDs will be returned only if a self-addressed stamped envelope with correct postage is included with them. CPF is not responsible if photos are damaged or lost7

8. By entering the contest, you are giving CPF, and its affiliate organizations, exclusive, unrestricted license to use the image(s) for its publications, political material and other official purposes. While it is our policy to provide photo credit wherever possible, photos may be used by CPF without credit.

9. CPF, or its affiliate organizations, has the right to reproduce any and all entries in its publications and other materials.

10. All images and videos submitted must have been taken in California.

Deadline to submit photos is September 30, 2021.
