Firefighting is hazardous duty, and not just because of fires. Exposure to chemical and biological hazards, work-related stress, the long-term effects of exposure to smoke: All are widely recognized as the adverse health effect of our profession. CPF has sponsored legislation recognizing the need to take care of our brothers and sisters and so has CPF.
The CPF's Health and Safety Department is a dedicated resource to its members. The Health and Safety Department helps CPF members with research and resources to make the firefighters' workplace safer. The CPF works through the legislative and regulatory process to assure all firefighters the benefits they need in the event they have been injured in the line of duty or have sustained an occupationally related illness.
