CPF Priority Bills
For those who kept tabs on Sacramento last summer, you know that it was quite a roller coaster ride as we navigated the longest budget impasse in our state's history and maneuvered through an unprecedented legislative procedural maze. Well, the wait was worth it.
Governor Schwarzenegger signed ALL of the CPF priority bills that were approved by the Legislature with overwhelming bi-partisan support. This in a year when the Governor set a modern-day record for vetoing legislation, rejecting nearly 35 percent of bills that reached his desk in 2008. The bills signed into law this year will provide a range of enhanced workplace protections that firefighters and their families will benefit from for generations to come.
2008 was truly a banner legislative year for our organization.
Now CPF is turning with new urgency to the 2009 legislative year. CPF's ambitious 2009-2010 legislative agenda, approved unanimously by the CPF Executive Board, is being transformed into an aggressive package of bills on behalf of CPF members, which state lawmakers will consider during the 2009 session.
