Beloved Alameda County Firefighter Loses Battle with Cancer
Alameda County Firefighters Local 55 is saddened to announce a line of duty death.
Alameda County firefighter Luster Knight died of job-related cancer on Friday, Oct. 24, 2008. He was 59.
A 41-year veteran of the fire service, Brother Knight exemplified the true spirit of a community servant, volunteering as a Recreation and Parks Commissioner for the City of San Leandro and a member of the Leadership San Leandro Steering Committee. He also coordinated the Firefighter Turkey Drive and Holiday Toy Drive in collaboration with the Davis Street Family Resource Center for over 20 years.
Memorial services for Brother Knight will be held as follows:

Attire: Class A or Station Uniform
Apparatus: Due to limited space, there will be no apparatus procession or static display. Agencies are urged not to bring apparatus.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at the Santos-Robinson Mortuary (160 Estudillo Avenue, San Leandro) from 4 to 7 p.m. and is open to the public.
