Davis President Elected New 3rd District Vice President

At the 41st CPF Convention, Bobby Weist was elected by acclamation to the post of Vice President for CPF's 3rd District. He replaces the position formerly occupied by Brian Rice.

"I am truly grateful that the delegates to the CPF Convention saw fit to elect me to the Executive Board of our great organization," Weist said.

Weist has been in the fire service for 24 years and a member and president of Davis Professional Firefighters Association, Local 3494 for 20 years. His department was one of the first in the state to get 3 percent at 50, one of the richest pensions that the state system offers, as well as post-retirement health coverage. In addition, he was instrumental in securing a 'union leave bank' with 24 hours leave per year, contributed to by the city.

In his new post as Vice President for CPF's 3rd District, he hopes to continue to encourage new departments across the state to join CPF and spread its message.

"From the Oregon border to Kings County, it is more important than ever that we work together," Weist said. "Especially in these tough economic times, we as public servants are being scrutinized. We can't overcome these challenges alone; our strength comes from our unity."
