Latest Crown Wildfire Signals Start of Fire Season

Located in the Leona Valley, the wind-fueled fire has burned more than 8,000 acres, according to fire officials. Over 1,000 residents were evacuated overnight from affected areas of the Leona Valley, Ritter Ranch, Anaverde and Palmdale, but have been allowed to return to their homes this morning. The fire is 5% contained.
No injuries or fatalities have been reported.
It is a clear sign that wildfire season is upon us and that California still faces a high wildfire risk this summer and fall.
