Palo Alto Firefighters Pepper Sauce is a Hot Commodity
For those of you who like to ‘kick it up a notch’… boy, have we got a smokin’ hot product for you.
Introducing … Palo Alto Fire Fighters Hot Pepper Sauce!
Palo Alto Fire Engineer Lee Taylor began growing serrano and jalapeño peppers in the fire station backyard in 1994. After each harvest, he would make his famous and fiery pepper sauce for his fellow firefighters, friends and family members to enjoy. Whether dipped with a chip, or basted on chicken, ribs, steaks, or chops… this tasty sauce continues to be a kitchen cupboard staple in every Palo Alto firehouse.
Over the years, the popularity of Taylor’s pepper sauce spread like wildfire. With the help from his Palo Alto brothers – Engineer Mike Chiesa and Firefighter David Shum – an idea sparked to bottle it up for mass distribution, to allow all proceeds from the sales of the sauce to go directly towards Local 1391’s 501(c)3 non-profit organization – the Palo Alto Fire Fighters Charitable Fund. This charitable arm of Local 1319 oversees the union’s Scholarship Program, which benefits the local community’s deserving high school seniors.
“The Scholarship Program is close to my heart,” said Engineer Taylor. “I grew up from humble beginnings, and raising money for this program through the sales of the pepper sauce and through donations for our annual bike ride – is a way for me to continue giving back to my community… especially young kids who are just starting out to make their way in the world.”
Engineer Lee is especially proud to announce that Local 1319 has already given out 21 scholarships, with an additional 8 scholarships to be awarded this year.
Because of the high volume and demand, a factory in Healdsburg, CA oversees the manufacturing, production and labeling of the tasty pepper product. Engineer Lee stays involved on this end to ensure that only the highest quality of peppers are used in the process.
Gourmet stores and food-based websites are ‘fired up’ about the Palo Alto Firefighters Pepper Sauce, and have already been advertising and selling the product in great numbers. In just two months, they’ve already sold over 3,000 bottles!
Our brothers and sisters from Palo Alto Firefighters Local 1319 were kind enough to send CPF a couple bottles so that we could sample a taste of this sizzling sauce. Those that dared to dabble in a taste… loved it.
