Ventura Co. President Elected New 2nd District VP
A Special Election to fill the post of CPF 2nd District Vice President has ended with the election of Ventura County Professional Firefighters Local 1364 President Chris Mahon.
Mahon, who currently serves as a CPF Trustee, was the only individual nominated for the 2nd District Vice President post and was elected by acclamation. The special election fills the vacancy created by the election of former 2nd District VP Lew Stone as CPF Secretary-Treasurer.
"I am proud to have won the support of my brothers and sisters within the 2nd District," Mahon said. "CPF provides a unique and important service to our affiliates and their members. I promise to continue the tradition of 'hands-on' support and leadership for our 2nd District locals and all of California's first responders."
Mahon is the longtime president of Local #1364. During his tenure, the local has been active in many areas of statewide legislative advocacy. Brother Mahon was one of the most forceful and influential voices against the 2005 effort to privatize firefighters' retirement security.
"Brother Mahon has been there for all firefighters throughout his career as president of Local 1364," said CPF President Lou Paulson. "His leadership in the fight to protect our pensions proves his commitment to all first responders, and we are proud to have him as part of the CPF Executive Board."
