The cornerstone to any strong Local is its ability to influence politics.
A strong political program will enable your Local to obtain better health and safety laws, negotiate a stronger contract and influence the way in which your City Council or elected body treats your members.
HOW CAN THE CPF POLITICAL DEPARTMENT HELP MY LOCAL?
Effective political action can help keep your Local out of the courtroom, and instead, in front of your elected officials, getting what you need for your members.
The Political Action Committee was created to develop our members' political acumen and skill, as well as to help our members influence politics beyond the realm of their own community. The goals of our political action plan include:
- Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with legislators and their staff;
- Assisting locals in developing relationships with their legislative representatives which, in turn, makes us more effective in Sacramento;
- Coordinating political activities among locals with regard to state offices or initiatives; and
- Working with locals to design, develop, and implement campaign strategies and political programs.
