Business Manager

Firefighters Print & Design (FP&D) a union print shop owned and operated by California Professional Firefighters (CPF) is seeking a talented, enthusiastic, and professional candidate to fill the role of Business Manager in our single location facility in Sacramento, California. With over 30 years in the industry, FP&D is a trusted partner to many organizations large and small throughout California and the nation with an emphasis on being a one-stop shop for political campaigns/candidates.  The Business Manager will lead a team of dynamic and creative professionals in the areas of design, production, sales, customer service and administration.

Overview of Responsibilities

  • Coordinates daily production activities with Operations Manager, Customer Service Manager and Art Director and participates in departmental meetings to assist with planning and to make recommendations on matters related to manufacturing, maintenance, operations, sales, and marketing.
  • Projects scheduling needs and planning for the most efficient use of manpower, materials, and equipment and makes recommendations for new equipment that will enhance productivity or bring in new revenue streams.
  • Develops and maintains an effective organization through the selection, training, compensation, and motivation of all team members and counsels, disciplines, and coaches employees in conjunction with their supervisor and human resources.
  • Handles customer complaints that cannot be managed by other team members and follows through for customer satisfaction.
  • Prepares annual budget projections in coordination with CFO as well as other accurate, reliable and comprehensive sales and marketing reports to our parent company, CPF as requested.
  • Represents the interests of the CPF and FP&D to clients, constituents and in the community and meets and entertains clients and prospective clients as necessary.
  • Researches and determines appropriate pricing structures for all products and services.
  • Develops and carries out marketing campaigns to increase sales and evaluates those campaigns for effectiveness and develops new products and services based upon client needs, industry trends and profitability studies.
  • Works with CPF Political Department, CPF Communications Department and CPF Locals to offer turnkey political advice, products, and services for their affiliated local unions across California as well as working with a variety of other Political Clients, Campaigns and Consultants to offer those same turnkey products and services.

 

Requirements & Attributes

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, industrial management or graphic arts or relevant field of study and/or at least 10 years of print or similar manufacturing experience in a senior level managerial role.
  • Proven knowledge of marketing strategies, sales, budgeting, and staff management practices.
  • Print industry experience a plus.
  • Must have exceptional communication skills both verbal and written and be highly organized with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Because of the sensitive political nature of our parent organization and clientele, requires a high degree of tact and diplomacy and a strong grasp of political and business etiquette; knowledge of unions and political campaigns a plus.
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate, inspire and collaborate with team members.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines while maintaining a calm composure and positive attitude that is relayed to team members and clients.

 

Salary Range: 125-150k
