CPF Deputy Political Director
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Deputy Political Director serves under the direction of the CPF President and Chief of Staff, and Political Director, and works closely with other key leadership within the CPF and its affiliated bodies. The position will work with leaders and staff to develop, execute, and align political and advocacy programs and the state and local level.
Overview of Responsibilities:
- Develop and strengthen the CPF political program by assisting local affiliates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of local candidate and issue campaigns.
- Assist local affiliates in developing and implementing external and internal communication/public relations programs.
- Help integrate political programs implemented at the statewide and local affiliate level – including mail, phone, field, polling, and digital programs.
- Help develop and translate targeting, modeling, polling, and other data work produced by CPF at the state level into messages, strategies, and tactics to be used by local affiliates
- Assist local affiliates in utilizing PDI, VAN and other political and grassroots data tools
- Assist local affiliates in the development, execution and maintenance of campaign plans related to candidate campaigns, independent expenditures, and ballot measures and serve as a liaison between local affiliates and Firefighters Print & Design/Firestar Studios
- Develop and provide local affiliates with relevant political, communication, and community advocacy trainings.
- Assist local affiliates with coalition-building among traditional and non-traditional allies to maximize the impact of affiliate resources on local priorities.
- Assist as needed in the communications and legislative priorities set forth by CPF
- Work with the State Political Director to track key state legislative, constitutional, and ballot measure campaigns to engage local affiliates.
- Work with the State Political Director, Legislative Advocates, and Finance Director to manage and maintain biannual PAC fund budget.
- Work with the CPF Finance Director and Legal Counsel to ensure CPF campaign activities are in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Manage the internal processing of all PAC fund
- Staff relevant CPF standing & ad-hoc committees
- Assist CPF Political, Legislative, Communications, and Operations departments with other projects as needed
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in national, state, or local political program development and implementation, with experience in political targeting, campaign finance/compliance, managing field, mail, and digital programs.
- Excellent project management skills on complex projects
- Ability to handle multiple high priority projects with competing deadlines
- Demonstrated written and verbal communications skills (including public speaking).
- Strong ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders
- Ability to travel extensively and work long hours and weekends as needed
- Strong commitment to the labor movement
Compensation:
- Salary: $75K-$100K annually, depending on experience
