Staff Accountant

California Professional Firefighters is seeking a Staff Accountant for their Sacramento based statewide organization. California Professional Firefighters is the largest statewide organization dedicated exclusively to serving the needs of career firefighters. The Staff Accountant will provide support and coordination in the administrative, accounting and budgeting efforts for this multiple entity organization. 

The Staff Accountant will be a critical member of the team and a key contributor in the support of California Professional Firefighters organization. We are looking for at least 3 years of solid general accounting with preparing financial statements experience, BS in Accounting, and exposure to a fast-paced multi-faceted organization where meeting deadlines and accountability are part of the culture and success. 

Duties and Responsibilities

· Prepare weekly and monthly bank reconciliation reports.
· Prepare weekly and month end cash report.
· Maintain financial records and general ledger accounts.
· Prepare journal entries and monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements.
· Prepare balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations.
· Perform general ledger account analyses.
· Review cash receipts, A/R billing (invoicing), A/P trial balance and reports prepared by the Accounting Specialists.
· Prepare and review statutory and compliance reports.
· Assist in annual audit preparation.
· Prepare financial and ad hoc analyses.
· Complete special projects as necessary.
· Assist the Senior Accountant and Lead Accountant as needed.

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
· 3+ years of general accounting with preparing financial statements experience and working knowledge of GAAP.
· Strong PC skills; excellent knowledge/skills of Excel.
· Good verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
· Good problem-solving and time management skills.
· Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines.
· Ability to manage multiple projects and achieve timely and accurate results.
· Self-driven, highly organized and detail oriented.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial data.

Compensation Package
