Working For You: Key CPF Leaders Appointed to Important State Fire Positions
Gov. Jerry Brown has named two strong firefighter advocates to an important state board directly involved in fire policy.
IAFF 10th District Vice President Frank Lima and Los Angeles County Firefighters Local 1014 Dave Gillotte have been re-appointed by Brown to the State Board of Fire Services. The SBFS is responsible for developing fire training performance and technical standards, as well as hearing appeals on state fire regulations.
Both Lima, a past president of United Firefighters of Los Angeles City Local 112, and Gillotte have had long careers in the fire service, and are both active fire captains with their respective departments. They are among five CPF members serving on the board, giving CPF members a powerful voice in charting training and policy for the future.
In addition to Lima and Gillotte,the outgoing governor also appointed Alameda Co. Local 55 President Sean Burrows to the state EMS Commission. CPF governmental advocate Christy Bouma was also reappointed to the Commission on Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation.
